SIP Extensions

Registers the Metaswitch virtual handset subscriber's SIP credentials in CCaaS so the contact center can handle calls through the platform.

Registering a SIP extension for Metaswitch uses the same virtual handset subscriber created for Target Platform, plus SIP credentials obtained from that subscriber's Connection tab in the MetaView Web Portal.


Accessing SIP Extensions

SIP Extensions is accessible to accounts with Admin permissions.

  1. Navigate to Admin (System) > SIP Extensions
  2. All registered SIP extensions are listed on this page

Target Platform Must Be Configured First

Target Platform must be configured before registering an extension.


Obtaining SIP Credentials from Metaswitch

  1. Open the virtual handset subscriber created for Target Platform in the MetaView Web Portal
  2. Select the Connection tab and note the SIP Password
SIP Password Location

Not the EAS Password

This SIP Password is distinct from the EAS Password used for API Information under Target Platform.


Registering the Extension in CCaaS

  1. Navigate to Admin (System) > SIP Extensions
  2. Select +
  3. Enter the following fields:

SIP PasswordThe password noted above from the subscriber's Connection tab
  1. Registration typically completes within a few minutes — the extension shows as Registered once successful

High-Volume MLHG Routing

A single virtual handset supporting 20 or more MLHGs requires additional extensions — each additional extension can handle up to 20 MLHGs, with traffic pointed at the 2nd, 3rd, and further extensions rather than the first. This does not apply below 20 MLHGs.
