Desktop App

Configures the 3CX Windows desktop app as a Contact Center agent's calling device.

The 3CX Windows desktop app is a native application that can be used in place of a desktop softphone or physical phone for a Contact Center agent's device.

⚠️

CCAC Still Required

The desktop app displays only the internal 3CX extension for a Contact Center call — not the skill, caller information, or account codes. An agent must be signed into the Contact Center Agent Client (CCAC) to see the call details; without CCAC open, the agent cannot answer the call from the desktop app.

Installing the App

  1. Open the In-Browser Web App and navigate to Apps > Windows App
  2. Select Install to download the client, then run the installer and accept the license agreement
  3. Download the configuration file from the same Apps > Windows App pop-up and open it

The extension is configured automatically, and the app's status displays On Hook once ready.

Softphone or CTI Mode

The app can place and receive calls in one of two modes, selected from the phone selector beneath the agent's name and status.

ModeDescription
SoftphoneCalls are placed and received directly through the computer's microphone and speakers, without a desk phone
CTIThe app controls a paired physical desk phone; calls are placed and received through the desk phone itself

CTI Requires a Supported Phone

CTI mode requires a desk phone from 3CX's supported IP phone list.

Placing a Call

  1. Search the phonebook by name, extension, or email, or enter an external number in the dialpad
  2. Select Call to place the call
